emmi-pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

emmi-pet Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

We are pleased to now offer emmi-pet ultrasonic teeth cleaning as an additional service at FourPaws Pampering. This innovative treatment provides a gentle, stress-free way to support your dog’s dental health without the need for traditional brushing or sedation.

Dental care is an essential part of a dog’s overall wellbeing. According to research 96% of dog owners do not (or unable to) brush their dog’s teeth – us included. But regular dental maintenance can help prevent any issues before they develop into more serious health concerns.

The emmi-pet ultrasonic toothbrush works using silent ultrasonic technology, meaning there is no vibration or noise. This allows the treatment to be well tolerated by many dogs who would otherwise struggle with conventional tooth brushing. The ultrasonic waves help to break down plaque, reduce harmful bacteria and support healthier gums in a calm and comfortable way.

This service is suitable for many dogs, including those who may be anxious about dental care or who have previously found tooth brushing stressful. It can also be a valuable preventative treatment, helping to maintain good oral health even in younger dogs with no visible plaque.

Each dog begins with a consultation and initial clean, allowing us to assess their teeth and gums and introduce the treatment in a calm, positive way. Ongoing sessions are then tailored to the individual needs of your dog. Some dogs may benefit from more frequent sessions initially to reduce plaque build-up before moving to a maintenance schedule, typically every six to eight weeks. More information is available on our FAQ’s page.

The before and after photographs shown on this page demonstrate the types of improvements that can be achieved with regular ultrasonic dental care.

Why Dental Health is So Important for Dogs?

Dental health is a vital part of a dog’s overall wellbeing, yet it is often one of the most overlooked areas of routine care. Plaque begins to form on a dog’s teeth within hours of eating and, if it is not removed regularly, it can harden into tartar. Over time, this build-up can lead to gum inflammation, infection and periodontal disease.

Studies suggest that 89% of dogs over the age of three show signs of dental disease, making it one of the most common health issues affecting dogs.

Poor dental health does not only affect the mouth. Bacteria from infected gums can enter the bloodstream and travel around the body, potentially impacting vital organs such as the heart, liver and kidneys. Dogs with dental disease may also experience pain, difficulty eating, bad breath and reduced quality of life, even if these symptoms are not immediately obvious to their owners.

Regular dental care helps to prevent these problems before they develop. By reducing plaque and bacteria along the gum line, routine treatments can help maintain healthier teeth and gums while supporting your dog’s long-term health.

Some breeds are more susceptible to gum disease and poor teeth quality (eg: poodles, spaniels, westies, yorkies), but all dogs will benefit, even young dogs with no visible plaque. Preventative care is always easier than treating problems later on.

The emmi-pet ultrasonic device works silently and without vibration. It helps to break down plaque and reduce bacteria in a gentle way, making it ideal even for dogs who don’t tolerate traditional brushing. Studies have actually found that this device is the only tool on the market to significantly reduce tartar build up.

At FourPaws Pampering, our goal is to provide a calm and supportive environment where dogs can receive dental care in a way that prioritises their comfort and wellbeing.

Signs Your Dog May Need Dental Cleaning

Dental problems in dogs often develop gradually and many signs can go unnoticed until the issue becomes more advanced. Regular checks and preventative care can help maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Some common signs that your dog may benefit from dental cleaning include:

  • Persistent bad breath
  • Yellow or brown tartar build-up on the teeth
  • Red, swollen or bleeding gums
  • Reluctance to have their mouth touched
  • Drooling more than usual
  • Difficulty chewing or eating more slowly
  • Pawing at the mouth or face

Even if your dog is not showing obvious symptoms, plaque and bacteria can still be present. Preventative dental care can help maintain healthy teeth and reduce the likelihood of more serious dental issues developing in the future.
